Biofouling Assessments and Niche Cleaning That Pass Inspection
Authorities in Australia, New Zealand and parts of the USA can ask for proof of an up-to-date Biofouling Management Plan before your ship enters their waters. TSS gives you the inspection, cleaning and reporting to arrive with confidence.
- Assessments to New Zealand MPI and Australian standards
- Niche areas other providers overlook
- Extensive photo and video reporting
- Before and after proof of removal

Why Biofouling Compliance Matters Now
Stricter port entry
Australia, New Zealand and certain US ports already check arriving ships, with more regions set to follow.
Management plan log
Your Biofouling Management Plan needs a record of every underwater inspection and cleaning.
Avoid stiff penalties
Inspectors check vessels on arrival and penalties for non-compliance can be heavy.
Recognised practices
Our methods are acknowledged by multiple governing bodies and follow official cleaning standards.

Niche areas
Where Biofouling Hides
Marine growth builds up fastest in tight spaces with complex shapes, not on the smooth sides and flat bottom of the hull. These niche areas are hard to reach and out of direct sight, so they are often overlooked. We clean them all.

What is required
A Compliant Job in Three Steps
Assess and report
We identify every type of marine organism on the vessel and build an extensive photo and video archive.
Clean thoroughly
Hull and niche areas are cleaned to a standard that will pass inspection at your next port of call.
Prove removal
A follow-up inspection and report shows total biofouling removal after cleaning.
What is a biofouling assessment?
A detailed underwater inspection that identifies and records every type of marine organism on the vessel, backed by photos and video. It shows authorities the current state of your hull and niche areas.
How is niche cleaning different from hull cleaning?
Hull cleaning targets the large flat surfaces of the hull. Niche cleaning targets the tight, complex areas where growth builds up fastest and other providers often miss, such as sea chests, thruster tunnels and the rudder.
Which countries ask for proof of biofouling management?
Australia, New Zealand and certain ports in the USA are currently the strictest, and more regions are expected to follow. They inspect arriving vessels and penalties for non-compliance can be heavy.
What do we receive after the job?
A full report with an extensive photo and video archive, before and after cleaning, as proof of total biofouling removal for your Biofouling Management Plan.
Can you do this before we sail from Thailand?
Yes. We work at Laem Chabang and every major port in Thailand, 24/7/365, so the assessment and cleaning can be done right before departure.
